Unlike passive extension cables*, the USB Active Extension Cable is an active device that buffers the data going and out to assure that the signal always meets the USB electrical and timing specifications. Using passive extension cables can result in timing errors and data loss. Passive cables are not recommended for extending USB beyond the cable length furnished with the USB device and violate the USB specification.
The cable can be used to extend the cable length of any USB 2.0 device. The USB data extension cable acts as a transparent USB hub, and buffers all upstream and down-stream data traffic. Both low speed and high speed devices can be accomodated.
-USB Specification rev 2.0 compliant, also works with USB 1.1 speed devices (transfer speed will run as fast as the slowest usb standard connected when using older USB versions).
-Cascaded (up to 5 extensions) to extend the distance between USB devices and computer.
-Regenerate the USB signal for maximum reliability and performance over extended distances.
-Connect to USB device or the 2nd active repeater cable.
-Available USB 2.0 port (up to 480Mbps) or available USB 1.1 port (up to 12Mbps)
-Apple Mac OX 9 and OS X, Linux, Unix, Windows 98SE,ME Windows 2000/XP or Windows Vista/7 with available USB ports.
*Passive extension cables violate USB specifications and may lead to signal degration and data loss.
